Taos, New Mexico – January Interim

For my Communication Design II class at Calvin College, we had to create a logo and design a set of brochures and advertisements for one of Calvin College’s January Interim trips. We also had to write all the copy for the advertisements. I chose Taos, New Mexico. The official name of the course was “Taos Art and Literature,” and was sponsored by the Calvin English Department. The professor who led the course liked my designs so much, she decided to use them to advertise the course.

I had a lot of fun playing on the adobe architecture for the texture of the logo and for phrases like “Adobe sweet adobe,” and using references to Taos artists like Georgia O’Keeffe in “Get used to giant flowers.”  I also created a spoof movie poster listing all the attractions and benefits of the course like credits.
